there is nothing i love more then the outfits worn by Hitchcock's leading ladies... they are so stylish and yet soo tragic ... what a smashing clash. Tippi Hedren in Marne, and Janet Leigh in Psycho. both films are highly recommended to see twice or three times like i have

new band/new feelings/song of the month

so pleased i saw this band with my lovely lady friends... so in love and hopeful for bear in heaven

my boss had me scan some images from old crime noir novels for inspiration, and i was really intrigued by them. LAURA is actually one of my favorite movies. it has a great twist, very much like alfred hitchcock presents episodes, but it also has this mysterious and passionate love relationship between the detective and Laura (the murder victim) very reminiscent of twin peaks which carries hints of late 40's charm and noir qualities. enjoy these covers, and see LAURA (1944 Otto Preminger)

ahhh relax the weekend is near

most played song at this moment . hope you enjoy this post

usually i HATE commercials, but this one i think is really brilliant. it is not exactly like the one i saw on tv, but as enjoyable. i definitely think this campaign has a special sparkle to it. go levis

as i was wondering around tribeca on an errand i stopped at a children's store called the playing mantis that not only had the most precious wooden toys, but these really beautiful postcards that reminded me of henry darger. they were by the childrens author sibylle von olfers. too bad i was never introduced to her work when i was a young girl, but it is never too late. i hope you enjoy these illustrations of her book covers, and if you so choose, explore this unfamiliar author. i wonder if her stories are as relaxing, and as angelically quant as her drawings

also.... i highly highly recommend that the next time you are in a thrift store or antique you hunt for slides, any slides, choose one at random, like i did for this very slide, and you might find a shinny treasure. i am very pleased with this slide selection. i wonder if they meant to photograph this woman in white or if it was by chance?

Saturday, September 12, 2009

these photos almost got lost through the cracks, however i was able to fish these slides out for a very special image projection experiment , which turned out quite beautiful. hopefully I will have time to make more scans of my work so you can see the full project of wire-esk snap shots

simply celebrating and excited about being a girl who doesn't mind looking like a boy

i am falling harder and harder for amie robinson's watercolors

last night i was as busy as a bee making t-shirts with my glitter and glow in the dark pens, and a tube of bleach. oh how i enjoy working with bleach on fabric, because you never really know what color you will get. let me know what you think of these one of a kind shirts. Most of the photos you are seeing are the backs of the shirts. the front of the shits are quite simple. but the backs are cut out wacky wild. i like the one that looks like a tiger slashed your back. enjoy. p.s. i saw a guy walking his cat today on the street.

currently interested in and finding comfort from Travis Lindquist's work. please check out his site and the Goldmine Shithouse collaboration he is involved with. Here is a brief description from the website where you can find out more about Travis's work: "The work is started by one artist, then passed on, or put aside until picked up by another, and so on, as the piece begins to take shape. At one point, the majority rules in the decision to continue, or deem it finished. This creates a communal atmosphere and a dialogue between the participants, in which all the artists involved have say."
